Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Project Controls Analyst for one of our Ohio offices.

The project controller will support multiple project managers with a focus on a major transportation program in the Ohio area. Overall, the project controller plays an integral role in ensuring all assigned projects succeed in attaining their financial, schedule, and performance targets as defined by the client contract and internal AECOM expectations. The project controller helps with scheduling, proposals, subcontract procurement, financial and physical project planning from start to finish, monthly billing and invoice preparation, along with collections and subconsultant payments, and document control.

  • Works closely with project managers, project accounting, and operations leaders to setup, monitor, control, and deliver projects to achieve business goals.

  • Works with company financial systems and processes.

  • Develops proficiency in the use of company cornerstone systems and provides cost data in formats necessary to control the project.

  • Understands financial terminology for projects and measures and recognizes the financial impact of various project actions.

  • Assists in analyzing and using financial data to identify key project issues.

  • Able to use scope, fee, and contract terms in the establishment of project baseline data.

  • Develops knowledge of accounting principles.

  • Assembles data for trending and forecasting, using proficiency in Excel.

  • Prepares analysis of progress trends and cost impact.

  • Participates in reviewing and approving subcontractor invoices.

  • Assists with the development of an effective project WBS.

  • Prepares regular cost reports which include tracking actual costs (as well as committed costs for subs/vendors) against budgets. Update forecasts based on progress assessed thru earned value, discussions with project team and other tools. Communicate this status and identified concerns with the project manager and leadership.

  • Possesses the knowledge of scope control and change management.

  • Exposure to scheduling process concepts and principles.

  • Exposure to performance management and cost/schedule integration concepts and principles.

  • Supports the project reporting process as required, including reporting on trends and risks.

  • Monitors and proactively tracks unbilled, invoicing, and aged AR and report to management.

  • Participates in project review meetings.

  • Reads and understand client contracts and subcontracts, particularly as related to fee type, scope, schedule, budget, invoicing requirements, and risk. Coordinate with project manager to ensure all procedures are in place to meet contractual requirements.

  • Reports on small business subcontracting requirements included in contracts.

  • Communicate with clients and subcontractors about invoicing, payment, contract, and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS + 4 years of relatable experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with an engineering, construction management or related field with relevant project controls experience.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook).

  • Knowledge and experience in project planning and scheduling methods, practices, and earned value.

  • This position is for a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in 1 of our Ohio offices.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $80,000.00 - $130,000.00.
