The qualified applicant should be able to demonstrate a high level of interest or relevant coursework in Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI). The position provides the opportunity to support CEI efforts for exciting, challenging, and high-profile transportation projects for IDOT, Illinois Tollway, CDOT, and other local Municipalities. This position provides training, guidance, and development of skills needed to acquire a Professional Engineering license.
Under the responsible charge of a Resident Engineer:
Work within the CEI group on the construction projects including local roadways, highways, interstates, freight and transit, drainage improvements and utility relocation and protection
Perform field inspection and documentation of Contractor's activities
Perform field measurements for quantity calculations and reporting for pay estimates
Communicate effectively with the project team, including Clients, Contractors, and Project Stakeholders
Provide quality inspection to ensure that job is being built in accordance with approved plans
Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering or other related field required
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software (examples include software such as CADD,AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS,)
Interest in construction of transportation projects
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Valid driver license required
Working experience in the Construction Engineering industry
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
