Position Title Principal Building Services Electrical Engineer

Job Summary

We are currently looking for a Principal Building Services Electrical Engineer to join our established Building Services team in Chesterfield. AECOM’s Chesterfield Office is a multidisciplinary unit numbering 275+ staff, which has an established Building Services team with remit and workload to grow.

Minimum Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who is highly skilled and experienced in this field and who has the following specific experience;

  • Proficient in the use of Amtech Pro-design cable sizing software

  • Proficient in the use of Dialux or similar lighting design software

  • Competent in designing coordinated containment runs and optimising ceiling spaces with mechanical colleagues

  • Familiar with drawing outputs required for 3D modelling in Revit software

  • Thorough knowledge of BS7671 with appropriate training

  • An intuitive approach to initial loading estimates to generate utility quotations and initial plant accommodation requirements

  • Familiar with Building Regulations requirements for energy conservation

  • Capable of managing high value complex projects from start to finish

  • Planning and managing projects to deliver required financial performance

  • Excellent communication skills both internally and within the design team environment

  • 11kv design experience

  • Proven ability to mentor staff and coordinate delivery of multi-disciplinary project teams

  • Comfortable in engaging with external parties at the highest level

  • Design experience of LV distribution and switchgear, LV cabling and containment, Minor Power, Internal External and Emergency Lighting, Fire alarms, CCTV, IT, Door entry systems, BMS, Lighting controls etc.

  • Competent in the use of NBS specification writing software

Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and knowledge;

  • Masters degree or equivalent in electrical engineering

  • Member of either IET or CIBSE

  • CEng accredited

  • Significant, demonstrable experience in a design consultancy environment at a similar level or ready to take the next step in your career.

  • Portfolio of relevant work demonstrating required competencies across broad sectors including industrial, defence, education, commercial and healthcare

  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems and passive design techniques
