Job Summary

We are currently looking for an Intermediate Building Services Mechanical Engineer to join our established Building Services team in Chesterfield. AECOM’s Chesterfield Office is a multidisciplinary unit numbering 275+ staff, which has an established Building Services team with remit and workload to grow.

Along with Building Services Engineering, the Chesterfield Office offers: -

  • Structural Engineering

  • Civil Engineering

  • Strategic Highways Consultancy

  • Geotechnical Engineering

  • Bridge Design

  • Transportation Consultancy

  • Heathrow Airport - Airside and Landside Improvement Framework

  • University College Birmingham - McIntyre House

  • University of Nottingham - Si Yuan Centre

  • Jaguar Land Rover - Various projects including Damson Parkway Distribution Centre

  • Essex County Fire & Rescue Services Headquarters

  • BMW - Plants Swindon and Oxford

  • Blue Light Hub - Cumbria County Council

Minimum Requirements

We are looking for candidates with the following knowledge;

  • Proficient in the use of Hevacomp design software

  • Competent in the use of IES Virtual Environment modelling software

  • Competent in the use of NBS specification writing software

  • Competent in designing coordinated containment runs and optimising ceiling spaces with electrical colleagues

  • Familiar with drawing outputs required for 3D modelling in Revit software

  • Thorough knowledge of Water Bye Laws and CIBSE Design Guides

  • Possess an intuitive approach to initial loading estimates to generate utility quotations

  • Familiar with Building Regulations requirements for energy conservation and low carbon technologies

  • Capable of managing a small project from start to finish and being aware of fee and time constraints

  • Strong communication skills both internally and within the design team environment

  • Design experience of hot and cold water systems and distribution, ventilation, heating, chilling and above ground drainage

  • A working knowledge of passive design techniques

Preferred Qualifications

.Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate the following;

  • Masters degree in mechanical engineering to CIBSE educational requirements

  • Post grad experience in a design consultancy environment

  • Portfolio of relevant work demonstrating required competencies

  • Actively working towards CEng accreditation
