AECOM Associate Director - Environment and Ground Engineering in Chesterfield, United Kingdom

Job Summary

Our Environment & Ground Engineering Contracting team are recruiting a contract manager to assist with the commercial project management of sub-contracts for large scale ground investigation, remediation and ecological works packages. The successful candidate will join at an exciting time as our contracting capability rapidly grows and offers the opportunity to work on a variety of major engineering and infrastructure projects.

Job Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

Accountable for the safe, ethical and profitable delivery of projects and specifically ground engineering and ecological related sub-contracts to a high technical and quality standard, where AECOM acts as a contractor

An ambassador both internally (when working within and cross business lines) and when client facing for AECOM’s environmental contracting business.

Identification, evaluation, procurement and management of subcontractors on a project by project basis–particularly management of subcontracts and monitoring of subcontractor performance – scope, programme, change, safety, financial, QA/QC

Management of prime contracts between AECOM clients and AECOM – scope, programme, change, safety, financial, QA/QC

Management of contractual issues with client and subcontractors

Management of contract communications i.e. Early Warning Notices, Compensation Events

Minimum Requirements

To be successful you will have strong development skills, the technical ability, knowledge and competence that are appropriate for your career experience, and you will be able to demonstrate examples of contract and sub-contract management. The position will suit a person who can work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary design team, and understands the importance of delivering work packages on time and within budget.

Minimum requirements include:

  • Able to demonstrate an in depth knowledge and experience of managing safety – particularly as Principal Contractor under the Construction Design and Management Regulations

  • Experience of managing multi-disciplinary project scopes and teams – examples should include a combination of demolition, earthworks, remediation, ecological contracting, archaeology, large scale ground investigation

  • Strong knowledge and experience of delivering contracting projects under NEC and/or ICE/FIDIC/JCT

  • You will be willing to travel within the UK and overseas for limited periods.

  • You will have a valid UK driving licence.

  • The following candidate attributes are highly desirable and would be a distinct advantage:

  • Working towards Chartered status with a relevant institution.

  • Contract management training and qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree.
