Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced MEP Technical Director with more than 20 years of experience to join our team. As the MEP Technical Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) design aspects of our projects. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise, guiding teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality MEP solutions to our clients across various sectors including buildings, data center, commercial real estate, airports, hospital, hospitality, industrial etc.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership : Provide technical leadership and guidance to MEP design teams throughout all project phases, including conceptual design, detailed design, construction, and commissioning.

Project Management: Oversee the MEP design process, ensuring that projects are completed within scope, budget, and schedule constraints while meeting quality standards and client expectations.

Client Engagement: Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements, develop project scopes, and deliver innovative MEP solutions that align with their goals and objectives across all the sectors.

Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of MEP engineers, designers, and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning across various project types.

Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes to review and validate MEP designs, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices, with a focus on the specific needs and challenges across the sectors.

Technical Expertise: Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and advancements in MEP engineering, and incorporate them into project designs to enhance performance, sustainability, and efficiency, particularly in specialized environments like data centers and industrial facilities.

Risk Management : Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with MEP design, proactively addressing challenges to minimize project disruptions and optimize outcomes in diverse sectors including data center, commercial, airport, and industrial.

Collaboration : Foster collaboration and coordination with other disciplines, such as architecture, structural engineering, and environmental engineering, to integrate MEP systems seamlessly into overall project designs across a range of sectors.

Business Development: Support business development efforts by participating in client meetings, proposal development, and presentations, showcasing AECOM's expertise and capabilities in MEP engineering across sectors.

Experience Required:

  • More than 20 years of experience in MEP engineering, with a proven track record of managing complex projects and leading multidisciplinary teams across buildings, real estate, data center, commercial complexes, airports, hospitals and industrial sectors.

  • In-depth knowledge of MEP systems, including HVAC, Electrical (EHV, LV, ELV), Plumbing, and Fire protection, with expertise in designing solutions tailored to the unique requirements of real estate, data center, commercial complexes, airport, and industrial facilities.

  • Exposure in industry-standard software tools for MEP design and analysis (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM, 3D Environment, Revit, Analytical Software etc.).

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, team members, and stakeholders across diverse project types and sectors.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, with a focus on meeting the specific needs and challenges of data center, commercial, airport, and industrial projects.

  • Experience working in a consulting engineering environment, preferably within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry.

  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

Qualifications

Graduation in Mechanical or Electrical or Building Services Engineering; Master’s degree in any related specialization is preferred. PhD will be an added advantage.
