Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cost Management Expert to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost estimation, budgeting, and project management within the construction industry. The Senior Quantity Surveyor / Cost Management Expert will play a key role in ensuring the financial success of our projects by providing accurate cost forecasts, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and managing project budgets effectively.

Responsibilities:

Lead the cost management process for construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and financial objectives.

Conduct detailed cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and other project expenses.

Develop and maintain project budgets, tracking expenditures and forecasting costs throughout the project lifecycle.

Analyze project specifications, drawings, and contracts to identify potential cost risks and opportunities.

Collaborate with project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and clients, to develop cost-effective solutions and value engineering strategies.

Review and negotiate contractor bids and proposals to ensure competitiveness and alignment with project requirements.

Monitor and report on project cost performance, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Provide expert advice and guidance on cost-related issues, including change orders, claims, and cost-saving measures.

Participate in project meetings, presentations, and reviews to provide cost-related updates and recommendations.

Mentor and train junior staff members in cost management best practices and industry standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, quantity surveying, construction management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost management and quantity surveying within the construction industry.

Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.

Proficiency in cost estimating software and tools, such as CostX, Bluebeam, or WinEst.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.

Proven track record of successfully managing project budgets and delivering projects on time and within budget.

Professional certifications, such as RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or AACE (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering), are highly desirable.

Experience with construction contract administration and claims management is a plus.
