Job Description
As a Technologist in our Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering Team, you will be responsible for conducting analysis and developing traffic / transportation designs as part of a project team analysis on a diverse array of infrastructure projects. These projects will encompass major roads, public transport systems, non-motorized transport, railway corridors, ports and harbours, as well as urban developments across Africa and beyond. The successful candidate will be based in Cape Town, Durban, or Centurion, South Africa.
Technical Excellence
Conducts assignments in the civil engineering field of traffic engineering and transportation planning.
Plans, organises and manages work on projects.
Makes recommendations on alternate solutions to engineering problems.
Prepares and presents technical plans and reports.
Institutes changes in methods, designs or equipment.
Under Supervision, performs work following the agreed-upon budget and schedule. When required, collects and analyses information from specific discipline and interdisciplinary project models.
Uses computer software as a tool for solving fundamental engineering problems. Coordinates with other discipline Engineers as applicable for the continuity of the design process.
Participates in design progress and coordination meetings.
Checks and ensures the quality of model production for accuracy to design instructions. Actively seeks information, opportunities to participate and contribute, and develops efficiencies and effectiveness.
Contributes by solving problems and applying experience or theoretical knowledge to atypical assignments.
Client Relationship Management
- Begins to participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements, explain/defend work, etc.
Qualifications
4+ Years' experience after obtainment of Qualification
BTech Degree an accredited Institution.
Post graduate qualification advantageous.
Registered as a Candidate Technologist or Professional Technician with ECSA
Qualifications
A minimum of 4 to 8 years of experience in a similar role is essential.
Proven experience in transportation planning studies, traffic analysis and modelling, as well as the design of transportation and traffic infrastructure.
Familiarity with transport modelling software (e.g., PTV, SIDRA, Synchro) and GIS applications is advantageous.
Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret data and effectively present findings.
Capacity to deliver high quality work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
