Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Traffic Planner/Modeller with significant experience in local traffic modelling and analysis to join our thriving Bristol or Cardiff office offering multi-disciplinary design and planning capability. We collaborate across our Wales and south of England teams to deliver exciting projects for clients including Highways England, Transport for London, Cardiff City Council and Cornwall Council.
The role is within the Roads business line and is an opportunity to join an established team delivering microsimulation modelling alongside design, project delivery and construction management services on a wide range of projects and supports other AECOM business lines where projects have a specialised operational traffic modelling requirement.

Job description:
Take a lead role in traffic studies, taking responsibility for the contributions of junior staff
Following comprehensive training and successful accreditation on the AECOM project management system act as a Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager including monitoring financial performance
Preparation of fee proposals for manager approval and contribute to major bids
Working directly with clients and assisting with client meetings and presentations
Manage sub-consultants to produce deliverables against agreed timescales and in line with budget.
Share knowledge and support team managers in mentoring junior staff
Manage career progression of line reports
Keep up to date with current best practice, techniques and innovation
Familiar with relevant Health and Safety regulations and to promote a culture of awareness within the team
Minimum Requirements
Specific Skills Required :
Proficient in VISSIM, ideally with LinSIG and/or Transyt
Awareness of strategic modelling software and transport model hierarchy
Ability to interrogate modelling outputs and assess scheme impacts
Knowledge of model audit processes
Good numerical and analytical skills
Good report writing skills
Knowledge of traffic data collection requirements and techniques
Evidence of project/task management and client-facing work
Experience of model calibration and validation techniques and criteria
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or Master qualification in an analytical subject such as: Engineering, Mathematics or Geography or similar
