Job Summary

Are you a Project Manager looking to work on building projects that can change the world, projects that are always more complex and innovative than the last?

If so, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our team in Cambridge to work on projects in the Defence, Commercial Science, Health, Education, Flood protection and Leisure sectors. You will be joining a Cambridge/Norwich PM team of like-minded experts that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions.

About Us:

AECOM Cambridge/Norwich PM and CM teams play a critical role in the conceptualisation and creation of amazing spaces, delivering projects and buildings that define the Eastern region skylines and communities. We are part of the UK AECOM Buildings & Places with a headquarters in Aldgate, London.

We are friendly, busy and motivated with an established track record of successfully delivering East Anglian and London projects. Some of our flagship work includes;

RAF Lakenheath various projects (AECOM have recently won an 8 year PM/CM framework for USVF), Public Health England (Harlow – £250m scheme to complete by 2027), Kettering General Hospital New Energy Centre, University of Cambridge’s Heart and Lung Institute; University of Bedfordshire’s new STEM Building, Cambridge’s Selwyn College New Library, Addenbrookes Hospital COVID-19 and theatre projects; Stansted Airport Terminal Building Arrivals Extension, RAF Marham projects; Babraham Science Park Buildings; Lowestoft Flood Tidal Wall Scheme, University College London projects to name but a few.

About Our Team:

We are a regional team of 20 plus professionally qualified Project Managers of all grades. We come from differing educational backgrounds (MICE, CIOB, MRICS), but all have a solid foundation in pre and post contract consultancy work. We have collaborative offices located in Girton, Cambridge. We work well as a group, have fun and respect each other’s individual drivers.

Job Responsibilities:

You will need to be from a consultancy or client organisation with the ability to:

  • Individually, project manage successful construction projects, with minimal support

  • Guide and develop junior project management personnel on your projects

  • Secure client confidence in your delivery

  • Contribute to securing repeat Client work

  • Manage your own time effectively

  • Act as a positive team member within the service line

  • Contribute towards our strong reputation in the market

Minimum Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience of two or three of the sectors noted above (including current issues and business drivers) and local construction market.

  • Ability to present to a large group

  • Chairing and taking accurate notes of meetings

  • Pre and post contract design /project management expertise over the RIBA lifecycle

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • JCT &/or NEC Contract Administration (Accreditation a positive)

  • Maintain accurate project records (both paper and electronic)

  • Robust Stakeholder Management process

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Qualification – ideally Project Management/ Construction/Engineering/Quantity Surveying Master’s Degree

  • Chartered Status with the RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE or other equivalent institution

  • APM affiliation preferred (as secondary accreditation)

  • Prince 2 or MSP experience is desirable but not essential
