Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager with expertise in renewable energy and business development to join our dynamic team of professionals within our Environment Business Line in Calgary, Alberta.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Project management and coordination - Leading and PMing Renewable projects mostly in Alberta and potentially in other parts of Western Canada (for example in Saskatchewan)

  • Directing the work of environmental specialists on renewable projects – including ecologists, archaeologists and sub-consultants in some cases

  • Advising clients on regulatory requirements and strategies associated with both provincial and federal applications - Dealing directly with regulators, agencies and the public/property owners

  • Leading the report writing and permitting phases of the projects, with support from intermediate/junior planners

  • Proposal development and client liaison - Working on proposals for key renewable clients in Western Canada (mostly in Alberta), including preparation of fees and schedule

  • Building relationships with clients to grow the business

  • Providing technical expertise relating to impact assessment and permitting related projects

  • Interacting with and supporting other offices across Canada

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, with preference for post graduate qualifications

  • 10+ years of environmental planning, aquatic or terrestrial ecology experience, in particular as it relates to renewable power sector projects in Alberta

  • Comfortable dealing directly with clients, connected to business and professional networks

  • Experience in project management, including managing scope, schedule and budget

  • Experience in obtaining permits, licenses, and approvals from local, provincial, and federal authorities in a timely and cost-effective manner

  • Experience in working with Indigenous communities

  • Ability to coordinate technical professionals

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Critical thinker with good writing skills

  • Experience with proposal writing and fee estimate preparation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate qualifications

  • Professional Designation is a bonus (RP.Bio., P.Ag., P.Geo, EP etc)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
