Job Description

As a part of our continued growth, our Burnaby, BC office has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Technical Lead/Project Manager to assist in the delivery of major new wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations. We are seeking a candidate who is a registered Professional Engineer (or has the ability to become one within 12 months) with at least 10 years’ experience related specifically to water and/or wastewater infrastructure engineering and construction management.

You will have a successful track record in the design and construction phases of municipal wastewater treatment, pumping and conveyance infrastructure. You will work in a team environment with intermediate and senior engineers to deliver advanced wastewater treatment and large pumping station projects to our client base in British Columbia.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for design and construction phases of expansions or upgrades to water and wastewater pumping stations and treatment plants, as well as design of new water/wastewater infrastructure;

  • Design of mechanical systems associated with lift stations, pump stations and other mechanical equipment associated with water and wastewater utilities.

  • Oversee and manage construction phases of projects to ensure works are completed in accordance with the contract documents, on time and budget; Construction management and supervision is an important part of the position.

  • Well versed in managing job safety at all times.

  • Responsible for regular project progress reports to the clients and AECOM Managers.

  • Demonstrates creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery, technical and client challenges, determining technical objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for technical activities and applications.

  • Stays abreast of industry standards and approaches, and implements best practices.

  • Engage, hands-on, in the technical execution of client assignments through to successful project completion.

  • Preparation of technical memoranda, planning studies and design reports;

  • Development of design drawings and specifications at various levels of completion from preliminary design to signed and sealed issued for construction deliverables;

  • Ensure project work is undertaken is accordance with corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems;

  • Mentoring junior staff;

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental,, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering + 10 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Exceptional client care and service delivery skills.

  • Experience in working with geographically dispersed project teams that have successfully delivered major design projects within budget and on schedule

  • Experience leading and developing multi discipline project teams that may reside in multiple offices and in multiple countries

  • Experience developing and reviewing design drawings for a wastewater infrastructure project such as hydraulic profiles, P&IDs, general arrangement of equipment, piping layouts, etc.

  • P.Eng in BC or ability to become registered within 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Registration or ability to obtain professional registration with a provisional Engineering Association such as AEGBC

  • 15+ years of progressive experience including minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.

  • Proven project management skills including PM certifications

  • Solid technical skills in the design of wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations, and examples of taking on the role of Engineer-of-Record for relevant reference projects

  • Keen business acumen coupled with strong business development experience

  • Class V BC Driver’s license in good standing

Additional Information

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $140,000.00 - $190,000.00.
