Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Civil Engineer for immediate employment for the Burnaby, BC office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The successful candidate will have an understanding and significant experience in civil engineering and construction management principles and is very familiar with the design and construction of municipal infrastructure. She/he will be expected to work within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He /she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Design of civil systems associated with municipal water and /or wastewater conveyance facilities

  • Design of systems associated with lift stations, pump stations and other mechanical equipment associated with water and wastewater utilities

  • Perform constructability reviews

  • Lead construction administration

  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports

  • Preparation of project specifications, contract documents and cost estimates

  • Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management; assistance with proposal preparation; contract preparation and negotiation; coordination with regulatory agencies; project planning, budgeting, and scheduling

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

  • 10+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design and construction inspection

  • Experience with municipal water, wastewater or stormwater conveyance and pumping infrastructure

  • Eligible for registration as P.Eng with APEGBC preferred

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

  • Valid BC Class V Driver's License

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients

  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • North American design and construction experience

  • Design experience on large diameter pipelines (600mm+)

  • Experience with trenchless installation technologies
