Job Description
AECOM is searching for a Civil Engineer to be based in our Burnaby, BC office for our Water and Wastewater conveyance group. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding and significant experience in civil engineering, civil technology, design and construction of municipal infrastructure and is familiar with hydraulic modelling and planning principles. They will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. They will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal storm water, water and wastewater sector.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Design of civil systems associated with municipal water and/or wastewater /drainage conveyance facilities
Prepare documentation for design projects and reports
Prepare construction cost estimates
Preparation of project specifications and contract documents
Perform constructability reviews
Perform contract administration
Perform construction inspections
Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management; proposal preparation; coordination with regulatory agencies, project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering + 4 years of relevant experience in civil engineering or municipal engineering.
Experience with civil engineering, planning, design, construction inspection, contract administration
Training and experience in managing municipal water and wastewater related projects
P.Eng with EGBC or eligible within 6-12 months
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with water / wastewater / drainage conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment, including both gravity and pressurized systems
Experience in proposal writing and job scoping
Project management experience
Working knowledge of blue and green infrastructure: ponds, wetlands, bioswales, raingardens, etc.
Familiarity with Hydraulic Modelling platforms
MMCD Contract Administration certification
Excellent written skills needed for technical reports
Proficient with MS Office Suite
Valid BC Class V Driver's License
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients
Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
Additional Information
- Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $80,000.00 - $120,000.00.
