Job Summary

AECOM is currently recruiting for an experienced specialist Planning or Civil or Structural Maritime Engineer to join us at Technical Director level as part of our well-established and experienced Ports & Marine team.

The work of the team frequently involves the planning and design of ports & marine structures and assessment /design measures to ensure the durability of concrete and steel structures in marine environment.

As a Technical Director, the responsibilities will include:

  • Experience in planning and design port and maritime facilities and structures

  • Working as the design and/or planning lead on various maritime projects globally, including container terminals, mining/bulk, oil/gas, marinas, ports and harbours.

  • Managing or Directing projects, driving technical excellence.

  • Working with clients to define their project requirements , establish project briefs and discuss/report progress.

  • Liaising with colleagues to lead; advise and contribute on planning ,civil and structural design.

  • Occasional short to medium term site visits (may be necessary depending on project requirements).

  • Contributing to Business Development and leading the preparation of bids and tenders and driving its success.

  • Supervising engineers and providing mentorship to new members of staff.

  • Identify, manage and supervise relevant front-end investigation work such Soil Investigation includes Land & Marine SI, Geophysical scanning and land/hydrographic surveys.

  • Prepare TORs’ including technical scope and support fees/cost estimation for calling of consultancy services or contractor services.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of working experience in Ports and Marine design and technical work.A good track record in planning and design of ports and marine experiences Has significant experience in managing civil/structural/infrastructure projects in the maritime sector.

  • Excellent working knowledge of Maritime design and planning, including applicable codes and standards.

  • Experience in the design and inspection of maritime structures such as breakwaters, quay walls, lock and dock gates, fender systems, paving, etc.

  • Good business development skills is a plus

  • Hardworking and able to think out of box and walk the extra mile

  • Client facing person with presentable attitude

  • Able to lead team and garner team support in driving project success

Preferred Qualifications

  • A recognized Degree in Ports Planning/Engineering or Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent
