Job Description

Summary

The Tax Technologist will report to the Sr Global Indirect Tax Technology Manager and will be responsible for both indirect and direct tax technology for Asia and ANZ.

Main responsibilities include assisting with the Vertex O International implementation and the development, management, maintenance, and testing of the tax systems at AECOM. This position will support tax technology throughout AECOM by identifying and implementing new technology and/or process improvements to drive compliance and savings along with ensuring tax team members are properly trained.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with Tax Engine and Tax Compliance implementations, maintenance and documentation of the indirect tax automation and reporting process tools (Vertex O, VITR, SAF-T, Real Time Reporting, e-invoicing etc)

  • Assess, document, and improve processes and data flows

  • Drive data analytics tools (Alteryx, Power BI) to increase efficiency for tax activities, including designing and developing Alteryx workflows and providing Alteryx training across AECOM

  • Prioritize and assist with documenting, sharing, and testing overlapping tax system requirements

  • Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively to solve complex problems within a team environment

  • Update/Maintain indirect tax configuration within Tax Engine and ERP systems (Oracle R12 EBTax)

  • Coordinate with other workstreams OTC, S2P, R2A as appropriate to ensure tax requirements are met

  • Troubleshooting indirect tax issues, including but not limited to Hypercare support for Tax Engine implementations, compliance issues and e-invoicing issues

  • Identify potential process improvements and recommend implementation strategies

  • Educate operations and tax teams on corrective procedures when identifying tax errors

  • Develop and demonstrate expertise in tax related software including building and offering training

  • Serve as a liaison between Tax, GBS, Controllership, Finance, and IT to support the various tax technology projects

  • Special Projects as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Tax, Finance and/or Accounting Information Systems

  • 2–3 years tax experience with an emphasis on indirect tax technology preferably

  • Vertex O or other Tax Engine Certification nice to have

  • Experience working with various Indirect Tax Technologies (Tax Engine, Tax Compliance Software) preferably

  • Strong experience with data analytic tools (Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBi, Data Integrity)

  • ERP experience (Oracle preferred)

  • Awareness of emerging technologies

  • Ability to support multiple on-going projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Completes complex tasks and projects requiring independent initiatives

  • Experience with SharePoint and/or Power Automate

  • This role will work a 7 am to 4 pm shift to accommodate some of the ANZ/Asia time zones.

  • RPA Experience (UIPath, Automation Anywhere)

  • Project Management Experience

  • PMP, Six Sigma, LEAN Certified

  • ACA, CA, CTA certification

  • Alteryx Certification

  • SQL or other database experience
