Job Description

The Senior Dry Utilities BIM Specialist is responsible for leading the development, management, and maintenance of Building Information Models (BIM) for dry utilities projects. This role involves high-level coordination, technical leadership, and ensuring that BIM standards are met across all projects. The specialist will mentor junior team members, collaborate closely with project stakeholders, and drive the adoption of advanced BIM practices within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Modeling and Coordination:

  • Lead the creation and maintenance of BIM models for dry utilities, including electricity, telecommunications, and gas.

  • Oversee the integration of dry utility systems into overall project models, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.

  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve complex design and modeling issues.

2. Standards and Quality Control:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce BIM standards and protocols, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.

  • Conduct thorough quality checks and audits on models to ensure precision and adherence to standards.

  • Continually review and update BIM standards to incorporate the latest industry developments.

3. Leadership and Mentoring:

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior BIM specialists and project team members.

  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops on BIM software, standards, and best practices.

  • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment within the BIM team.

4. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for BIM-related issues and coordination with project stakeholders.

  • Lead coordination meetings to address clashes, design discrepancies, and other modeling concerns.

  • Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.

5. Technical Support and Innovation:

  • Provide advanced technical support to project teams regarding BIM tools and methodologies.

  • Stay abreast of the latest BIM technologies, trends, and industry advancements.

  • Drive the adoption of new BIM tools and processes to improve efficiency and project outcomes.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of BIM processes, standards, and project-specific requirements.

  • Prepare and present detailed reports on model progress, issues, resolutions, and overall BIM performance.

  • Assist in the development of BIM execution plans and ensure their implementation across projects.

Mandatory qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in BIM modeling, preferably with a focus on dry utilities.

Nice to have:

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in BIM software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other relevant tools.

  • Strong understanding of dry utility systems and their integration into construction projects.

  • Knowledge of BIM standards and protocols (e.g., ISO 19650, PAS 1192).

  • Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Effective time management and organizational skills.

  • Certifications: BIM certification (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional) is a plus.
