AECOM Principal Net Zero Delivery Consultant in Bristol, United Kingdom
AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior or Principal level Consultant to join an established Sustainable Development Group based in our Bristol, Cardiff and Birmingham offices. The successful candidate will be part of our wider UK sustainability group, playing a key role in delivering energy and carbon management services for several major public and private sector clients, helping them to meet their net zero targets and ambitions. Our clients cover a range of sectors, including public, commercial, domestic, industrial and education. You will need to have experience of developing and delivering sustainability and net zero strategies and implementing projects and programmes to achieve significant carbon reductions.
Although the role is quite broad, the successful candidate will be given plenty of support and mentoring from technical specialists in the team, as required.
The responsibilities of this position are outlined below:
Supporting clients to make the transition to a low carbon economy and achieving ambitious net zero targets
Developing and delivering carbon reduction strategies including establishing reporting processes, scenario and pathway modeling, project planning, establishing business cases and identifying delivery models
Using sound project and programme management skills to implement a range of range of energy and carbon reduction projects
Delivering large scale carbon reduction programmes
Engaging with a wide and diverse range of stakeholders to provide best practice advice against national, local and sectoral requirements
Carrying out project management and administration tasks, management of smaller projects, and work towards becoming a certified AECOM Project Manager
Supporting team leaders in preparing tenders and proposals for new work, and taking the lead in preparing proposals for smaller pieces of work (e.g. up to £10,000 in fees)
Join the broader AECOM sustainability practice, network with colleagues, and engage other internal project opportunities
In addition to the above, the role holder will need to be flexible and adaptable to be able work on a range of energy and net zero related projects, as required by the team, to suit the wide variety of different consultancy opportunities and deadlines that arise.
Travel within the UK and occasionally abroad will be required from time-to-time in this role.
High degree of carbon literacy
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to plan, prioritise and organise a diverse workload
Takes responsibility for outcomes and is proactive and dynamic in solving problems
Excellent written/report writing and communication skills
Good presentation skills
Proven ability to work to deadlines and to a budget
Personable and able to interact with a variety of technical and non-technical people
Continual improvement mindset, and drive to seek knowledge
Current UK driving license
Educated to at least degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject; or possess an equivalent level of skills, knowledge and experience of working at this level
Membership of appropriate professional body with evidence of continuing professional development
