Job Description

Our Contaminated Land & Remediation Practice is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Associate Director to join us to support us in delivering an increasing project portfolio for our clients across the UK, across all sectors.

The Contaminated Land & Remediation Practice provides services ranging from desk studies, site investigation, risk assessment, remediation (strategy development, design, implementation and validation), monitoring and close-out on a wide range of contracts and sits within a Business Unit that also comprises Ground Engineering, Energy, and Transaction & Compliance practices.

You will become an integral member of the Practice and a regional team, and have the opportunity to lead on a wide range of contaminated land and remediation projects for private and public sector clients including developers, global oil & gas companies, the nuclear industry, Fortune 500 multinational corporations, regulatory bodies and government agencies; including the Environment Agency, Homes England, Highways England and local authorities.

The Practice also supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a contaminated land and remediation interface and who are involved in the delivery of multi-disciplinary design, build and construction schemes.

Nationally our Practice is one of the largest in the UK and has an established track record in successfully delivering award winning contaminated land assessment and remediation works.

We require an ambitious team player with the technical and commercial skills, knowledge and experience to take overall responsibility for the capture and delivery of projects, ensuring technical quality and adherence to budget and programme, to manage and mentor project staff, and develop and maintain strong client relationships that deliver repeat business as a “Trusted Advisor”. The position will suit those who can work with a high degree of independence, good commercial acumen, and successfully lead projects from desk study/feasibility through ground investigation, interpretation and remediation.

AECOM is built to deliver a better world. We design, build, finance and operate infrastructure assets for governments, businesses and organizations in more than 150 countries. As a fully integrated firm, we connect knowledge and experience across our global network of experts to help clients solve their most complex challenges. JOB Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will help develop our workload and footprint based out our Bristol Office and will have a specific focus on business development (bids and tenders), project delivery and team leadership. It would be beneficial but not necessary to have nuclear sector experience as this is a growth area for the Practice.

The successful applicant will be expected to take a leading role in the capture and delivery of projects and drive growth in the region – both from external client relationships and from collaboration with other internal AECOM teams that are aligned to our local market strategy. The appointed person will be expected to take on client management, direction of projects, and lead on tender and bid submissions.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Ensuring that health and safety issues are addressed throughout the life of a project in compliance with AECOM policies and procedures.

  • Close support to our Regional Director, Technical Directors and other Associates in project delivery, work winning and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.

  • On the job mentoring of junior staff, including supporting them to achieve chartered status.

  • Lead input to team and client meetings, being prepared to own decisions and put forward alternative ideas and concepts.

  • Prepare and oversee fee bids and proposals.

  • Provide oversight, technical leadership and verification of project deliverables.

  • Ensure rigorous adhesion to AECOMs industry leading quality assurance programme.

  • Management of sub-consultant, contractor and other supplier relationships to the benefit of project delivery
