Job Description

AECOM has a position available for a Mechanical Technician / Weatherization Technician to be based in Boston, MA. In this role the selected candidate will work on a variety of energy efficiency, resilience, and decarbonization initiatives for municipal, utility, commercial and industrial clients. This position will perform technical tasks on a variety of projects including energy efficiency, distributed generation, renewable energy, energy master planning, district energy systems, net-zero buildings, monitoring base commissioning, grid-interactive buildings, and building decarbonization.

The successful candidate should be a dynamic, self-directed individual with an excellent understanding of energy efficiency (weatherization, airsealing, thermal barrier, ventilation), and energy system decarbonization. The candidate should also have a demonstrated ability to understand and deliver innovative installations that leverage the use of thermal, air barrier, and data analytics to identify, analyze, and specify energy reduction measures.

Responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited, the following:

  • Assisting the development of energy-efficient strategies looking at, but not limited to: heat pump systems, VRF, lighting and weatherization.

  • Assists junior and mid-level staff during all phases of project work.

  • Assist in performing commercial energy audits for small C&I customers with aim to reduce overall energy consumption.

  • Troubleshoot technical problems and issues related to weatherization installations.

  • Work requires occasional physical exertion, including some lifting of objects weighing up to 35 pounds.

  • Identify and communicate all program eligible energy efficient upgrade options.

  • Preparing and presenting results and professional recommendations, in report or presentation format, to clients and teams

  • Conducting comprehensive energy assessments, design or development, and site investigations,

  • Demonstrated experience with energy process improvements and demonstrated timely/accurate project completion.

  • Install weatherization measures according to state, local, and Mass Save standards.

  • Be able to work in heights and confined spaces for long periods of time.

  • Understand and be able to use hand and power tools efficiently.

  • Work under all types of weather, such as rain, snow, hail, heat, and cool temperatures.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma

  • Valid Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with utility programs

  • Experience in the construction/weatherization field

  • Demonstrated networking capabilities with public and private clients, power and energy industries, from inception through contract award and implementation.

  • 1+ years of relevant experience.
