Our position on a number of significant regional and national Transportation Frameworks provides the team with excellent opportunities and ensures an exciting future and varied workload.
AECOM are seeking ambitious and motivated senior consultants to support the work of the Transport Planning Team. The role would suit a proactive, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team. This position would ideally suit someone with a transport planning or traffic modelling background.
We have an established track record of successfully delivering major schemes to clients across the region, nationally and internationally. The team provides transport planning services, development control and spatial planning advice as well as traffic modelling services on a wide range of projects. The team also supports other AECOM business lines where their projects have a transportation, planning and highway interface.
We are now looking to enhance and grow this team with individuals who have a sound technical background and share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload.
The appropriate level of expertise is required in order that the following responsibilities can be carried out to the necessary standards:
Provide transport planning, business case and transport strategy advice.
Receive project brief and undertake appropriate assessments.
Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members.
With the support of the Project Manager, undertake costing and programming of studies and monitoring of financial performance.
Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief and AECOM’s quality procedures.
Manage junior staff and sub-consultants to produce deliverables against agreed timescales and in line with budget.
Attend internal and external Project Progress meetings as required and support Client planning/project meetings.
Prepare detailed client briefs, fee proposals, technical responses and study reports for Manager’s approval and contribute to major bids as required.
Support the team manager in mentoring junior staff.
Specific Skills Required:
Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Geography, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Planning or a related discipline.
Interest in transportation and experience of undertaking a range of traffic and transportation projects and studies.
Good technical and communication skills.
Understanding of Health and Safety.
Knowledge and application of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Traffic Signs Regulations and Traffic Signs Manuals.
Demonstrable experience across two or more of the following: spatial planning, development control, transport strategy, cycling, walking, road safety, public transport and parking strategy and design.
Experience in delivering transport projects to clients
Experience of working in a commercial environment
The following is also desirable:
Reasonable geographical flexibility (within the UK) to support project and business requirements.
Experience in modelling and using LINSIG, TRANSYT, VISSIM/ PARAMICS
You will have a relevant degree and will be working towards or recently gained an appropriate professional status with membership of a relevant professional institution.
First Degree in Transportation or associated discipline.
