The role will suit a self-motivated individual who is aspiring to take a lead role in project delivery and manage dynamic teams delivering high quality projects.

Job Responsibilities :

An appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the expected standards:

  • Produce technical design information including models, drawings and specifications

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards

  • Development of designs in the 3d project information model

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and clients, using tools for information sharing such as Common Data Environments

  • Deliver the specified project outcomes on time, within budget and to the quality required

  • Undertake Health & Safety duties, particularly safety in design and preparation of design risk assessments

  • Manage the workload and the technical management of junior engineers and technicians

  • Write and oversee the preparation of contract documents, specifications and technical reports

  • Communicate with the immediate design team, the wider organisation and external parties

  • Coach, mentor and develop junior staff

Minimum Requirements

We are seeking experienced individuals with the following attributes:

  • Proficiency across a range of highway design areas such as alignment design, drainage design, pavement design, road signs, road markings and vehicle restraint.

  • Knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges

  • Demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety including CDM

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience of managing small teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject

  • We would expect a candidate at this level to be working towards their Incorporated (IEng) or Chartered (CEng) professional qualifications.
