AECOM has a strong portfolio of growth projects in the areas of High-Speed Rail, Rail, Metros and Light Rail within the UK and internationally. We are seeking a candidate with deep expertise in leading the delivery of design and technical services into major rail projects and programs. to help realise our key strategic objectives in offering our clients core advisory solutions. This role will be “hands on”, building and leading multi-disciplinary design and technical services teams to successfully deliver major projects within the UK and internationally to successfully meet client and company outcomes. The candidate will be an effective leader, strong expediter with tenacity and drive who can motivate teams to deliver high quality outputs to programme and cost.
AECOM representative, Client liaison and management
Leads the delivery (time, cost, quality) of the design, professional services support during construction and entry into service.
Leads the implementation and maintains a very high level of Safety awareness and ensures the project design complies with all requirements.
Responsible for assessing resource requirements, sourcing and mobilising those resources.
Leads contract administration.
Presents progress and package issues to client team. Leads the production and reporting on the overall project and actions required.
Communicating the critical path activities that will influence key milestones.
Ensuring critical internal milestones are incorporated into the programme.
Discuss changes to the scope of work with the Client and key stakeholders.
Responsible for following up on instructions & commitments associated with the project.
Establishes Project Execution Plan, Health & Safety Plan, Quality Control Plan and other documents in relation to our scope.
Establishes the program requirements for all areas of the commission scope and monitors site staff performance.
Plans, directs, supervises, and controls the execution of all technical, fiscal and administrative functions of the project and the site team where applicable
Assigns responsibility to key subordinates in their respective fields of expertise
Provides input to performance reviews and develop plans for subordinates
Represent the company in Client meetings.
Commercial understanding and administration of the project operating and legal documents.
Production of project reports including monthly and quarterly reports.
Ensures compliance with AECOM corporate governance and Integrated Management System and clients delivery requirements and control systems
Significant senior delivery director capability in development, design and construction of infrastructure projects, specifically major rail programs.
Significant capability in working across geographies, sectors and within a matrix led organisation

Recent experience and knowledge of national and local government processes, procedures and codes and regulations in the UK and internationally for example the Middle East.
Experience in delivery and execution of large-scale projects with a strong understanding of in all stages of the project life cycle including start-up, execution, and handover of major projects.
Experience leading major government and/or semi-government international projects with a proven track record of delivering project excellence in direct project delivery role.
Experience of direct oversight of the following functions: engineering, project controls contracts, procurement, health, safety, security & environmental, risk management, financial management, quality assurance and quality control.
Capability to successfully deliver design and technical services under different forms of contract including direct services to infrastructure clients and design services for contractors under design-build forms of contract
Record of engagement with a wide range of stakeholders eg utility providers, commercial and public sector stakeholders.
Proven track record of instituting continuous improvement and of supporting capacity building / talent development.
Full understanding of commercial, administrative, and legal processes for effective project performance.
Flexible approach to travel within the UK&I and overseas to meet project demands.
Ability to form collaborative and trusted working relationships with clients for extensive technical and professional services on major rail programs including rail clients and contractors
Strong inter-personal skills to lead multi-disciplinary rail systems, civil infrastructure, environment and cost teams to delivery solutions for complex rail programs
Strong understanding of technical and design solutions for railway infrastructure including major civil assets, permanent way, stations, depots and requirements for rail systems
Ability to establish and implement engineering design management and technical assurance processes to ensure integrity of integrated design solutions within budget and time schedule
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant Engineering field (i.e. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural etc.) and/ or Project or Construction Management.
Membership of a Chartered Institution (MICE/ MIStructE/ MRICS) preferred.
