We are searching for a Head of Telecoms to join our Rail, Structures and Ground Engineering team at AECOM. As an experienced Telecoms Design professional, you will hold previous experience in managing rail telecoms design projects and acted as a Contractors Responsible Engineer within this discipline whilst leading a technical design team.

Here’s what you’ll do

Provide Expertise:

Manage all Telecoms design activities undertaken by their team, in accordance with client and governance requirements for signalling and associated projects.

Review and lead the delivery of Telecoms projects to deliver to defined timescales

Bid preparation to support/lead tendering of new works

Maintain knowledge of current practices, processes, standards and emerging technologies in relation to the Telecoms disci Ensure that the technical and engineering management processes and procedures for the delivery of discipline outputs are followed

Present complex technical solutions to client

Collaborate:

Work closely with the Regional Directors and Design Heads to develop a plan for growth within the Telecoms team

Chair team meetings to discuss project issues and progress, competency and continuing professional development updates, resourcing etc

Participate in development of technical proposals

Work closely with the Professional Head of Disciplines and Regional Directors to support them with all appropriate tasks

Lead:

Lead the production of, review and approve for construction of Telecoms designs and documentation at a consistent and acceptable level of quality

Qualifications

  • Experience of acting as Telecoms Design CRE

  • Excellent knowledge of Telecoms rail systems of all generations

  • Visit offices where staff in their team are located and provide an appropriate level of leadership

  • IRSE license: 2.1.115v4 Telecoms Designer Chartered Engineer

Ideally, we are searching for an individual who holds experience in:

  • Design of Operational Telecoms Systems [SISS CCTV, PA, CIS, LLPA/PAVA, PHP, TVM, SCR, Induction loops, Station Radio.

  • Design of IP Network architecture (FTNx) MPLS Protocol, Cisco ASR903 Routers, Cisco switches, VOIP lineside telephones. NRT FTN legacy cabling uplift

  • Design of Network Rail Concentrator systems (Hi-Path, Daisy/Demovo, Cisco CUCM, STS Concept 32, Kestrel Hawk Concentrator
