AECOM is looking for an experienced Geomorphology to join our established hydromorphology/ fluvial geomorphology team in the UK. Based in either Manchester, Basingstoke or Birmingham, you would work under the Hydromorphology Team Leader to apply your knowledge of hydromorphology, to help guide the work undertaken by this growing team. You would work with a range of associated disciplines to cement and grow our position as one of the premier hydromorphology teams in the UK.
AECOM’s UK Hydromorphology team is split over three offices (Altrincham, Basingstoke and Birmingham) and has been established for over five years; becoming one of the most respected teams in the UK. Our workload is varied and covers a wide range of infrastructure projects (e.g. HS2, Highways England, Network Rail) and river management projects (river restoration, natural flood management (NFM), understanding flood risk attributable to coarse sediment dynamics, weir removal, fish pass design etc, for clients such as water companies, River Trusts, National Trust, Natural England and the Environment Agency (via a number of frameworks)).
We also have strong links to academia, which we wish to build upon into the future.
The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:
Working with staff at Graduate, Senior and Consultant levels to oversee and guide their technical work, especially Hydromorphology.
Working with a range of internal clients to develop holistic project solutions;
Contributing to WFD assessments and environmental impact assessments, guiding new infrastructure developments to the best environmental outcomes;
Consulting with statutory regulators where required, particularly the Environment Agency and Natural England;
Maintaining excellent client relationships;
Helping the Hydromorphology Team Leader to identify new internal and external clients/opportunities;
Helping the Hydromorphology Team Leader to recruit talented individuals to grow the team, as required;
Helping to prepare high quality project and framework tenders;
Day to day project management;
Working with AECOM’s safety systems and preparing/reviewing risk assessments for field work; and
Making sure that projects are managed in line with AECOM’s Integrated Management System (IMS).

Detailed design of the diversion and river restoration of the River Eye (SSSI) as part of the Melton Mowbray Distributor Road project; Detailed design and construction of restoration works on Worsley Brook, Salford to restore a mixed sediment morphology along a highly modified urban watercourse; Design and construction of a pool-riffle-point bar bypass channel on the chalk fed River Beane for Affinity Water; Restoration of a section of the Upper River Lee to re-establish a chalk river morpholo
