AECOM is an industry leading construction consultancy, we have a new job vacancy for an Associate Director level Structural Engineer who will work on a mixed portfolio of structural projects within the new and fast-growing Birmingham structural design team.
We are expanding on our already strong Midlands and Northern portfolio of works, so now is a great time to join a fast-evolving team at this development stage to push our boundaries and develop our valuable commercial and operational experience.
Your role will include the management and development of your own Clients and projects, the offering of strategic insights, the management of commercial aspects of the business and the leading of tender submissions and client sided meetings and presentations. You will be an experienced Associate Engineer with a keen interest in Building Structures with a strong desire to develop commercially and the ability to manage your projects across multiple disciplines having already developed a strong technical capability in a consultancy environment.
Projects will generally be within the Midlands and the North. Some projects may be international, requiring occasional travel to meetings and construction sites. The role will also involve working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams drawing on resources in other UK & Ireland Offices and the AECOM wider Building & Places (B&P) business, which is 2000+ strong.

About the Team:
We are proud of working on commercial and residential towers, airports and key private and public sector frameworks but our order book is growing so we require a skilled engineer able to balance operational outputs with work winning and line management.
This is a new team that will require your leadership. Our culture will be led by you but will be in line with our values and our professional working practices. As an Associate Director with AECOM you will work with the Regional Director to manage project delivery, to provide clients with results on time and budget. This means that you will need to be comfortable managing projects and have experience in leading both formal progress meetings with clients and informal design workshops with other members of the Design Team.
Provide high level value engineering led technical expertise when applying structural engineering principles, techniques and methods to the planning and design of building design projects.
You will support with the expansion and training of our team.
You will be responsible for high level reporting and management and will require strong communication and prioritisation skills to manage expectations and produce positive outcomes.
You will have technical experience in conceptual design to create cost-efficient engineering solutions with various construction materials.
Ideally you will be proficient in the use of various design analysis software systems in the delivery of projects and be able to collaborate with management and demonstrate ideas on how to improve our team internally. You will also be able to maintain an outstanding technical quality, be interested in new Engineering products and technologies and strive for success.
You will be degree educated or equivalent and it is essential that you are Chartered.
Experience working in the delivery of Structural Engineering design projects as an Associate or Director.
It is essential that you understand project finance, project delivery and contracts.
You must have knowledge of governing structural design standards Eurocodes, BS, Building Regulations etc.
You will have the ability to deliver design solutions, assessment calculations, lead teams and successfully manage projects.
A solid track record of having worked on a variety of structures projects, possibly as project leader on some, with experience of dealing directly with clients who know you.
Experience of design and leadership in commercial, retail, hospitality, residential, manufacturing and high-rise projects.
Design of large office blocks and Airport Projects will be an added value.
Design experience in international projects would be a plus.
A clear work history and proof of professional development and learning.
Ideally you will live locally to the office or be willing to relocate.
Fully driving license.
