Job Description

The Technician performs introductory technical tasks in the Cost Management production field. Employee engages, attends, and contributes towards internal training sessions to grow knowledge base. Takes on more scope and responsibility.

Serves as a developing professional in a cost management team, creating, developing, and finalizing production work on projects under the direction and supervision of a Senior Quantity Surveyor or designated senior team member.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Undertakes responsibilities under the supervision of a registered Quantity Surveyor, and may also oversee the work of Graduates

  • Completes the measurement of quantities for input into cost plans, cost estimates and bills of quantities

  • Prepares tender documentation

  • Completes viability studies and cost estimates

  • Implements, maintains and monitors cost control procedures throughout the duration of a project

  • Provides necessary input related to financial claims

  • Evaluates variations, additions and omissions, etc, and incorporates these into monthly cost reports

  • Prepares, process and negotiates change orders with clients and contractors

  • Accountable for a variety of complex tasks covering: Showing interest in or have experience in Buildings Quantity Surveying and Engineering Infrastructure

  • Team work

  • Professional work etiquette at all times

  • Proactively looks for opportunities to add value to deliverables, tasks and produces high-quality work.

  • Ensures tasks are completed in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • BTech/BSc or other equivalent

  • 3-5 Years’ experience minimum in measuring within the built environment

  • Has experience in the whole life cycle of quantity surveying.

  • Adapts well to change.

  • Responsible and efficient with assigned tasks

  • Must have CostX and WinQS experience.

  • Infrastructure experience would be advantageous.
