Job Summary
AECOM currently has an opportunity for a Senior Engineer – Highways to be based in our Belfast, Clarence Street West.
Our Strategic Highways Business in the Northern Ireland is undergoing an unprecedented period of growth which is underpinned by major highway project opportunities locally, nationally and internationally. Our project teams are currently delivering major highways and infrastructure projects for high profile clients across the UK&I. The role will suit a self-motivated individual who is aspiring to take a lead role in project delivery and manage dynamic teams delivering high quality projects. Some of the high profile projects that our team is currently delivering include:
A6 Randalstown to Castledawson Dualling
A6 Derry to Dungiven
York Street Interchange
The successful candidate will have experience in the development of designs at concept, preliminary and detailed stages on major highway schemes including Motorway schemes, public transport improvements and privately funded highway infrastructure projects.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparation of designs and drawing in accordance with technical design standards;
Development of designs in MX and/or Civils3D environment;
Development of Surface Water Drainage Design in WinDes;
Management of small and medium work packages and projects;
Interface with the Client as necessary to deliver the work;
Writing contract documents and technical reports as required;
Communication to the immediate team, the wider organisation and external parties;
Responsibility for managing the workloads and technical oversight of small team of junior engineers and technicians;
Coaching, mentoring and developing junior staff
Developing of specific project outcomes on time, within budget, to the quality required.
Minimum Requirements
Experience of highway technical design.
Understanding of Health and Safety including CDM.
Experience in using Civils 3D/MX Road and AutoCAD.
Experience of working on a variety of projects as project leader on some,
Experience of dealing directly with clients.
Experience of managing small teams.
The successful candidate will be a Chartered (or near chartered) Engineer with proven design and project management experience, delivering to quality, time and budget. They will preferably have experience of working collaboratively as part of a team developing a range of highway projects for Highway Authority schemes.
Preferred Qualifications
BSc, BEng, MEng degree in Civil Engineering;
Chartered (or near chartered) Engineer and member of a professional Institution.
