Job Summary

We are looking to recruit an experienced Bid Manager for our Environmental business line

Working closely with others in the bid team under direction of the Lead Bid Manager, you will lead on bids and improve quality by ensuring that the responses are compliant and compelling and hit all of the criteria specified by the client and that the CVs put forward are appropriate and in line with requirements.

Within this role you will ensure a streamlined process for efficient communication and collaboration of the bidding and technical teams to deliver within the timescales agreed.

You will be responsible for devising a bid programme, agreeing key deliverables, managing inputs from subject matter experts and driving progress through to successful submission. You will work collaboratively with technical leads, members of the end market teams and directors.

As the Bid Manager, you will be involved in all steps of the bid process from capture management and win strategy development, through to pre-qualification questionnaire (PQQ) and proposal submission. You will manage interview/presentation preparation and debrief sessions and provide consistency through the entire process, driving continuous improvement in our process and bidding efforts.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Develop requirements for each bid in a clear and easy-to-understand way

  • Manage and maintain version control for bid documents and issue them to the appropriate functions for response

  • Instil a culture where others share knowledge, insight and learning

  • Promote the use of AECOM’s bid processes and tools

  • Assisting in the preparation of major bids and proposals particularly with regard to content collation, graphics preparation, print production and delivery/dispatch

  • Liaising with colleagues across the UK, EMIA and globally for cross country and/or cross discipline bids

  • Ensuring all bid governance procedures (Go/No-Go, legal and commercial review, tender boards, etc.) are completed

  • Ensuring all stages of the bid management process (planning, preparation, reviewing, refining and finishing) are completed

  • Planning and leading bid development workshops

  • Maintaining overall control of editorial content, including liaison with project teams to develop engaging and compelling client-facing messages

  • The continuous improvement and raising of proposal document standards in terms of visual image, style and content

  • The preparation of presentations (including general, sector and project specific), placemats and interview packs for post tender interviews

Minimum Requirements

  • We are looking for a person who has previous experience and may be at a point in their career when they feel they are ready to take a step into a manager's role or they will be working in that post already and are looking to work in a diverse firm such as Aecom, someone with experience within engineering consultancy will benefit.

  • You must be able to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, have previous experience working on and likely managing bids directly, you will have overseen bid delivery and can demonstrate complete understanding of the process.

Preferred Qualifications

A successful candidate would ideally be degree qualified and will have experience of an engineering consultancy, possibly environmental consultancy specifically;

  • APMP Foundation Certification

  • Marketing qualification/experience

  • Experience of working with InDesign
