AECOM Senior Civil Engineer in Basingstoke, United Kingdom

Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to be based in Basingstoke. You will be a key member of our team tasked with the design of connecting infrastructure for major developments and the management of a small team of graduates and technicians. We design infrastructure that allows the construction of building developments, taking into account drainage and highways from feasibility studies to construction. You will be best suited to this role if you have worked in a team tasked with the design of highways, access roads and the infrastructure of development projects including road geometry, public realm, earthworks, pavements, drainage and underground services.

We are open to taking on established Engineers with full time consultancy work experience who are ready to make the move to Senior Engineer or more established Seniors who are chartered or close to chartership with people management experience.

Job Responsibilities:

You will undertake the design or elements of design for our civil projects large and small. Your core responsibilities will be design and calculation focused but as you develop you will move toward project management and client sided consultancy or become a technical expert depending on how you want to challenge yourself. We guide our Engineers towards chartership and professional accreditation step by step as you and the business grow.

With our team you will be involved in the design of highways, access roads and the infrastructure of development projects including road geometry, public realm, earthworks, pavements, drainage and underground services.

Job Duties:

  • Undertake civil infrastructure design offering expertise and guidance whilst supported by our senior managers.

  • Provide a client-focused service which results in on-going satisfaction and repeat business.

  • Help build effective relationships within teams, across the organisation.

  • Take a proactive approach to develop your own skills and those of others and provide guidance to your team.

  • Support work-winning initiatives and tenders.

  • Understand and work in accordance with the requirements of the Construction Design and Management regulations.

  • Contribute to the management of the technical, financial and management requirements of development related infrastructure projects (including planning, control and monitoring from feasibility through to detailed design phase and construction support).

  • Understand and play an active part in the project assurance process, including taking part in technical reviews.

Minimum Requirements

  • Working towards a professional qualification or chartership.

  • Civil Engineering Masters degree or equivalent

  • Knowledge of drainage design from first principles, including piped systems, SuDS based systems and familiarity with storage design and computer programs such as MicroDrainage.

  • A knowledge of road design using 3D computer modelling packages, such as Civils 3D.

  • Demonstrable awareness and understanding of BIM and coordinated 3D design as well as current technological advances in the design process.

  • An understanding of the corresponding relevant standards for example: MCHW, DMRB, MfS and local authority design guidance.

  • It would be of benefit if you have experience in the preparation of contract drawings and specifications for Section 38 and 278 Agreements for highway works, 104 and 106 Agreements for sewers and also utilities works experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Working towards a professional qualification or chartership.
