AECOM Coastal Engineer in Basingstoke, United Kingdom

Job Summary

Are you a Coastal Engineer with experience in coastal defence structures, flood studies and some knowledge of coastal modelling? We have an exciting role in our established Water, Ports and Power team, based in Basingstoke.

The Team

Our coastal team has delivered some of the most high-profile projects in the South West, and across the UK, so your projects and clients will be varied and interesting. Examples of project that will be involved in include:

  • Coastal flood and erosion studies

  • Coastal protection works

  • Inspection and assessment of coastal defence structures

  • River bank protection

  • Rail and road bridge scour assessment and protection

  • Gauging stations and other river structures

The Role

As a Coastal Engineer, your responsibilities will include the planning and delivery of flood and erosion studies and the design and supervision of coastal defence works and other mitigation measures, including identification and appraisal of options, site inspections, procurement and management of site surveys and investigations.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSc in civil or structural engineering.

  • Experience in design of coastal defences, including rock revetments, sheet piling, seawalls and other concrete/steel structures.

  • Experience in inspection/assessment of coastal structures.

  • Ability to implement company and project quality standards and technical procedures.

  • An understanding of industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MSc in civil or structural engineering.

  • Experience in use of basic structural design software packages (e.g. TEDDS)

  • Knowledge of 3D software such as Civil 3D and/or Revit is desirable.

  • Experience in use of project collaboration platforms, such as Project Wise.

  • Conversant with Microsoft applications; e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project.

  • Relevant membership of a Professional Institution. (e.g. IEng or MEng)

  • Experience of coastal modelling would be beneficial.
