Job Summary

Are you a Civil Engineer with experience in clean and waste water utility projects? We have an exciting role in our established Water Consulting team, based in Basingstoke, to work on water related infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for clients both locally and regionally.

As Civil Engineer, you will be involved in various design stages of water and wastewater utility projects to include carrying out feasibility studies, reference designs, detailed designs, and preparing reports and technical specifications.

The team and the office

You will be joining an established multi-disciplinary team of 9, championing excellence on a range of water and wastewater infrastructure projects both locally and regionally. The Basingstoke office is centrally located and less than a 5-minute walk from the main station making for an easy commute.

The Role

As Civil Engineer, your work will include water and wastewater utilities design such as gravity and pressurized networks, treatment works and pump stations, surface water networks and outfalls. This will include the regular use of proprietary software packages such as Infoworks and Epanet.

You will also closely interface with other disciplines in the delivery of engineering design and the preparation of technical reports.

This role will include visits to site to carry out site surveys and the support of liaisons with clients, government authorities, contractors, suppliers. You will be tasked with delivering to agreed budget, programme and quality along with supporting the preparation of project budget & programme.

Minimum Requirements

Required/Essential Skills & Experience

  • Clean water networks, pump stations, reservoirs and treatment work design.

  • Waste water networks including gravity systems, rising mains and treatment works design.

  • Surface water network including gravity networks, pump stations and outfalls.

  • Flood modelling, and drainage strategy design including SuDs

  • Experience of pressurised pipe and/or gravitational system hydraulic design

  • Experience in using hydraulic design software packages including INFOWORKS, MicroDrainage, EPANET etc

  • Demonstrate sound problem-solving skills, accountability for assigned work, and solid written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience using a 3D Design tool

Preferred Qualifications

  • Desirable Skills & Experience

  • BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent

  • Working towards being chartered with a relevant institution (e.g ICE or CIWEM)
