Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Sr Transit/Rail Planner to be based in Austin, TX .

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as a technical specialist for the office in the application of transportation planning

  • Has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating complex assignments

  • Ability to manage tasks and/or project management

  • Local client relationships and understanding of local markets

  • Performing/overseeing technical studies and report preparation.

  • Facilitating public and agency outreach.

  • Working with an interdisciplinary team of technical specialists and managing their project-delivery efforts.

  • Assisting with proposals and business development

  • Provide oversight and guidance to junior to mid-level staff

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters preferred in Urban Planning, Geography, or related fields

  • 10+ years of relevant planning experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including minimum 5 years of leadership.

  • Demonstrated technical writing and communication skills.

  • Knowledge and experience with transportation projects in Texas

  • Experience in project management.

  • Technical background and expertise in transit and/or transportation planning.

  • Experience with State and local transportation agencies, and their standards, policies and practices are preferred.

  • Experience in Preliminary Engineering and NEPA work for High-Capacity Transit (HCT) projects.

  • Experience with applying technical excellence in transit and transportation planning, particularly FTA, FRA, and USDOT project development and funding processes for projects in Texas and/or other Gulf Coast Region states.

  • Project management or Senior Task Lead experience on transit and multi-modal transportation studies and projects; professional experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Proven ability to win and lead pursuits in transportation, both transit and surface transportation in the Gulf Coast Region.

  • Working knowledge and project leadership on early project development phase for transit projects including general transit planning, alternatives analysis, capital investment grant program and federal funding, conceptual engineering, and environmental planning processes.

  • Project and on-call program contract management experience with DOT entities.

  • Develop, manage, and deliver business strategy and tactics, high-quality proposals, interdisciplinary teams, and deliverables.

  • Managing project teams and mentoring professional colleagues in a diverse workplace.

  • Serve as an interface with clients and stakeholder personnel on complex projects and business development efforts.

  • Understanding and working knowledge of ESG preferred.

  • Offered rate of compensation (Texas locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $171,000.
