As a Principal Substation Design Engineer within our highly successful national Transmission & Distribution (T&D) team, you will be involved in the primary design of HV transmission and distribution projects throughout the Australia and NZ (ANZ) region.

Working within an engaging team of T&D experts in a supportive environment, you will contribute to the design of some of ANZ's critical electrical infrastructure that will ultimately improve the reliability and quality of supply to our communities.

What will a day in this role will look like:

  • Leading the concept and detailed design of HV substation primary systems, HV cable systems and earthing systems for NZ and Australian clients

  • Managing a range of medium - large scale projects and interfacing with clients on new opportunities

  • Compiling budget estimates, pricing schedules and providing technical expertise to clients in accordance with project time, quality and cost objectives

  • Drafting design reports and assisting with the preparation of proposals

  • Attending site visits and carrying out inspections and testing as required eg. soil resistivity testing

Qualifications

What are we looking for from you?

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.

  • University degree - BE Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in transmission and distribution substation design

  • Knowledge of the Transmission and Distribution industry in New Zealand. Design experience with NZ and/or Australian electrical utilities will be highly favoured

  • Site experience/experience in projects being constructed and commissioned

  • Experience in suitable software packages

  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
