Job Summary

The Water Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Planner II for immediate employment in the Arlington, VA office.

The candidate to interface with senior AECOM and client management on the development of strategies, white papers and job aids. The subjects will be wide-ranging, but generally centered around hazard mitigation strategies and process improvements within the emergency management realm.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Development of white papers

  • Development of presentations

  • Creation of monthly reports

  • Project management of small initiatives (<$100K)

  • Program management support of contract level activities

  • Facilitation of meetings

  • Production of job aids as required by new programs

  • Updating of job aids for existing programs

  • Strategic support to AECOM resilience business ventures

  • Proposal support when appropriate

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent

3+ years of experience

Must be able to obtain a FEMA Badge

must be able to pass the FEMA suitability clearance and maintain a FEMA badge

Must have familiarity with the FEMA Grant Programs or other federal grant programs

Must have outstanding written and verbal communications skills

Must be able to interface professionally with a wide variety of clients, including senior customer staff

Must be able to present on technical topics at conferences

Must be willing to travel (short-term) following disasters

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, Powerpoint

Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree preferred

Knowledge of HMA Grant Programs

knowledge of FEMA FIMA Directorate

knowledge of state/local mitigation approaches

understanding of flood risk

Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)

comfortable writing White Papers aimed at senior leadership within FEMA or other federal agencies
