Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Fire Protection Intern to join our team in Arlington, Virginia office. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of fire protection engineering while contributing to the safety of our built environment.
This position is expected to begin in June 2025.
The responsibilities of this position may include, but are not limited to:
Assist in the design and review of fire protection systems for various building types
Support senior engineers in conducting fire risk assessments and safety audits
Help prepare technical reports and documentation for fire protection projects
Participate in site visits to observe and learn about fire protection system installations
Contribute to the development of fire safety plans and emergency procedures
Assist in researching and staying up-to-date with the latest fire protection technologies and regulations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure fire safety compliance in building designs
Support the team in creating and maintaining project documentation and drawings
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Safety Engineering and must have completed at least 1 year of study in the applicable program. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of fire protection systems and safety principles
Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of fire protection
AutoCAD or similar CAD software experience is preferred but not required
Interest in obtaining future fire protection certifications is a plus
Additional Information

Relocation assistance is not available for this position
Ability to work on-site in Arlington, United States, and travel to project locations as needed
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $22.00/hour - $25.00/hour.
