AECOM has an opening for an Associate, Real Estate Advisory & Economics in Arlington, VA.
Our Real Estate Advisory + Economics practice helps clients evaluate and make decisions about feasibility, financial requirements, social impact, risk and prospects for success. We pull ideas into focus and sharpen the boundaries of a preliminary plan or concept for regional and place-based economic development, urban revitalization, real estate, tourism and culture.
Collaborating with other disciplines, our team develops strategies that respond to the market, attract financing and enable implementation. We address challenges through clear communication, creative thinking and structured, impartial analysis. Our global experience and comprehensive, integrated approach help us understand how multiple factors influence value and feasibility. It’s not just about the market, but also project design, public policies and regulations, site conditions, mitigation requirements, development and financing costs, phasing and implementation challenges.
The Real Estate practice is looking for a team leader that can support integrated pursuits, identify opportunities and develop a team of analysts. With an Americas practice, while the primary focus is on the Mid-Atlantic, we are seeking candidates that can also provide focused expertise in a specific subject matter. Potential focus areas include Resilience & Climate Adaption, Innovation & Technology, Transit Oriented Development & Value Capture, Affordable and Missing Middle Housing.
The selected candidate will join AECOM with the primary objective of managing delivery of real estate economic analysis and economic development projects. Additional Day-to-day tasks will require business development activities and the direction of project teams to ensure top quality and timely work products which satisfy clients’ needs.
The successful candidate will have deep expertise in some of the following topics and familiarity with the remainder: Real estate economics, including market and financial feasibility analysis; economic development strategies for redevelopment, innovation & upskilling, economic resilience; public-private partnerships and transaction support; housing and community development, including public sector planning; public finance, including fiscal impact analyses and infrastructure financing strategies; and the economic justification of resilience and climate adaptation strategies.
Participates in marketing and business development of new opportunities.
Responsible for working on the development and the production of commercial real estate forecasts.
Must have econometric capabilities, and understanding of commercial real estate and regional markets, familiarity with forecasting, and the ability to work in database and programming environments.
Forecasts and analyzes major commercial property types across all major markets.
Researches local and regional economic issues, and provides consultation regarding the development of dynamic regional and local economies, as well as urban and rural regeneration. Proposes solutions to issues such as labor markets, education and skills, deprivation and social inclusion, inward investment and business development.
May draft and prepare reports based on project outcomes. Experienced professional with a specialized area of expertise.
Manages small or medium sized projects or has full technical control of project.
Has financial responsibility for the success of a project, and may play a key role in business development efforts, which may be sourced by a more senior staff member.
Supervises the work of others, providing feedback on performance evaluations, and mentors others.
Financial and project management goals are defined by the organization annually.
- BA/BS and 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate, Economics or City Planning
4+ years of work experience in real estate, economic development, market research, development, and/or consulting in a related field
Experience working closely and collaboratively with many disciplines, including all aspects of the Buildings business, incorporating architecture, urban design and master planning, as well as our urban infrastructure practice areas including transportation, water, environment and energy
Demonstrated experience navigating and thriving in a multi-disciplinary work environment
7+ years' experience a plus
Master's Degree a plus
