Job Description

AECOM has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Geologist II to join our Remediation team in Annapolis Junction MD. You will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering remediation consulting services

The selected candidate will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across MD. This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work on a range of projects, and a positive attitude.

The selected candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team and will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System.

The job responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

  • Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures; including multi-media sampling (groundwater, soil, sediment)

  • Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.

  • Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists, primarily involving site assessments, remedial investigations, and corrective action

  • Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge

  • Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis

  • Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance - primarily Maryland Department of Environment, Virginia DEQ, Pennsylvania DEP, and US EPA

  • Works under general supervision

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Geology or related field + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Geology or related field

  • 3+ years of experience in geological methods and studies, remediation remedy or design

  • Understanding of project delivery requirements,

  • Knowledge to conduct reports with creativity, foresight, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team

  • Project management experience and developing project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence

  • Experience with application of techniques and procedures, including sampling of soil, groundwater, sediment, and air

  • Experience with US EPA, MDE, PADEP, VDEQ

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $60,000.00 - $80,000.00.
