Job Description

AECOM's Environment Business Line in our Annapolis Junction, Maryland office is currently seeking a talented and experienced Environmental Engineer IV to join our growing Contaminated Sediments and Ecosystem Restoration practice. The appropriately qualified candidate will join a multidisciplinary, collaborative and diverse team focused on delivery of superior services to our clients. About Our Sediments/Ecosystem Restoration Practice:

AECOM offers expertise in virtually all aspects of contaminated sediment and ecological restoration. These services include: site investigations; ecological and human health risk assessments; contaminant fate and transport modeling; remedial design & engineering; dredge materials management; beneficial reuse of dredge materials; ecosystem restoration services; Natural Resource Damage Assessments; project implementation support and remedial action. AECOM’s experience includes work on several of the nation’s most highly visible and complex sediment projects (i.e., Fox River, Hudson River, Passaic River, Pearl Harbor, Lower Duwamish Waterway). Our sediment and waterway restoration project teams support a wide range of public and private sector clients.

Our customers include industry and PRP groups, as well as state and federal governmental entities and port authorities, and are often intertwined with large iconic infrastructure projects. We provide expert leadership in establishing sediment clean-up levels, risk mitigation, cost forecasting, liability management, public relations, and ultimately helping our clients reach sustainable solutions on complex sediment sites. AECOM’s sediment and ecosystem restoration projects have been often recognized through prestigious awards for their quality, uniqueness, innovation, and public good. Our practitioners provide thought leadership at technical conferences and often collaborate with academia, industry and government organizations to publish top-notch research.

The job responsibilities for the position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects in the areas of contaminated sediments, soil and groundwater remediation, environmental compliance, regenerative remediation and sustainability.

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Approves and signs off on work.

  • Provides strong technical expertise for studies and design efforts.

  • Presents complex technical solutions to clients.

  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.

  • Participates in development of technical proposals.

  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.

  • Maintain existing client relationships and contracts by successful project delivery.

  • Serve as a technical leader, project manager and program manager.

  • Attend client meetings and coordinate with multi-disciplinary project teams.

  • Work with the Program Manager and Senior Practice Leaders to contribute to business growth.

  • Participate in national organizations, as appropriate on behalf of AECOM.

  • Lead AECOM client development and design efforts and recruit new talent to build AECOMs team.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) or other relevant professional License

  • Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review

  • As a condition of employment, candidates will be required to pass a drug-screen.

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training certification and current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher

  • Willing to work in a hybrid work environment, with office presence for two days a week.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related field

  • 7+ years of progressive engineering experience

  • 7+ years of project management experience

  • Experience in Environmental Consulting including a combination of Technical, BD and managerial experience.

  • Strong technical experience in developing project plans, engineering drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and schedules.

  • Experience on large scale sediment investigation, remediation, or restoration projects.

  • Business Development experience

  • Experience as a technical leader on general civil and/or remediation projects.

  • Ability to proactively assist in technical efforts and direct project team staff.

  • Superior communication, writing, editing, and reporting skills for a wide variety of audiences

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and communication, both verbal and written skills

  • Experience and confidence to work independently to produce high quality deliverables on time and on budget.

  • Through working knowledge of Mid-Atlantic States environmental regulations and setting.

  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

  • Relocation is not available for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $100,000.00 - $135,000.00.
