Job Summary

AECOM have an exciting opportunity for a Serviceperson/Handyperson to join their team based in the town of Alice Springs on a full time 2 year fixed term basis with possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator you will perform the maintenance; repair and renovation work in accommodation, office and industrial facilities. The Serviceperson also provides support to trades and other personnel, as well as undertaking duties and tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Serviceperson/Handyperson include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform a wide range of tasks to support the organisation in its undertaking of the VESTA contract requirements

  • Support of trades and other personnel where required

  • Undertake regular inspections and tasks within the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and certificate

  • Perform planning of tools, equipment, assistance and materials needed to complete tasks

  • Liaise with others to notify and organize tasks to be undertaken as required

  • Ensure as much as possible that equipment is maintained to operate in a safe manner

  • Undertake all work in safe and professional manner

  • Report any incidents to management as a priority

  • Use of computer systems to record and plan work tasks

  • Work as part of a team

  • Assist in other areas of facilities and maintenance area from time to time as required

  • Work to ensure that safety is an integral part of everyday activities

  • Other duties as directed by the VESTA management team

Minimum Requirements

Essential

  • Ability to safely undertake a wide range of building activities

  • Ability to understand written instructions and create basic written reports

  • Current Driver’s License

  • Ability to work within a team environment

  • Ability to work professionally with minimal supervision

  • Good interpersonal skills with a customer service focus

  • Good communication skills – verbal and written

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and successfully complete assigned tasks

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyse issues and develop solutions to problems

  • Australian Government NV1 Security clearance or ability to gain one.

Desirable

  • Training in appropriate safety procedures (i.e. Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights,

  • Electrical Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, Lockout/Tagout, Working in Trenches etc.)

  • Strategic with proven project management skills.
