Job Summary

Savannah River Remediation, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking a

First Line Manager, Radiological Control to be based in our Aiken, SC location.

Responsible for the management, supervision and oversight of the Radiation Protection Program in the assigned facility, ensuring the radiological health of facility personnel, and ensuring all Federal, State, Company, and Site requirements regarding radiation exposure to facility personnel and the general public are followed.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Facility Manager in directing and integrating the Facility's Radiation Protection Program. Responsible for, radiation protection safety and health of facility staff, facility visitor’s personnel, visitors, and laboratory organizations within the assigned facility. Implement program improvements relative to employee performance through Conduct of Operations initiatives. Ensure assigned facility operations personnel and other support personnel are following the requirements of the Site's Radiological Controls (5Q) Manual. Advise other departments on self-monitoring, protective clothing, respiratory protection, containment huts, and others to prevent the spread of contamination.

  • Ensure facility and group is in compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures by providing guidance, analysis, and audits of the radiation protection program for the facility. Provide implementation, surveillance, and maintenance of Radiation Protection policies/guidelines. Implement Conduct of Operations (2S) Manual requirements by meeting with other managers and FLMs on policy to ensure facility program consistency. Review and assesses procedures and practices for technical accuracy, write/revises procedures and field changes. Supervise and train Radiation Protection Inspectors on proper Radiation Protection procedures and practices and advises other departments on Radiation Protection procedures.

  • Ensure facility is in full compliance with all Federal, State, Company, and Site requirements to maintain exposure to facility, and the general public as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) overseeing the group's Radiation Protection Program to ensure radiation exposure of personnel is maintained ALARA. Conducts ALARA reviews, walkthroughs and surveillance of areas to monitor and enforce standards. Provide input into occurrence reports and authors formal responses to audits and surveillances. Audit radiation and contamination control surveys in support of habitability and job site safety programs to include reviewing air sample results, radiological data, and radiological survey log sheets. Communicate deficiencies noted in facility operations to upper RCO Management.

  • Represent the Facility Radiation Protection Manager on Radiation Protection issues externally and internally by communicating facility position to various oversight and planning groups. Conduct visitor orientations and tours of the facility.

  • Supervise and direct Radiation Protection Inspectors to support current facility work priorities and schedules. Coordinate manpower requirements and allocations. Coordinate the facility and/ or group's Radiation Protection Program execution and improvements through daily meetings with facility Line Management and reviews and signs off on survey documentation and RWP information/records.

  • Maintain required qualifications to include Radiation Protection training requirements with satisfactory performance in oral boards, and maintenance of Emergency Response Organization qualifications. Monitor and ensures conduct of training and qualification program for assigned Radiation Protection Inspections by ensuring assigned Radiation Protection Inspectors are trained and qualified for job assignments. Provide recommendations for on-the-job training (OJT) and position qualifications. Monitor conduct of classroom and OJT.

  • Provide leadership to promote a Safety and Nuclear Safety Culture for the facility by enforcing monthly safety meeting attendance and good work practices and emphasizing the importance of safety on and off the job. Participate in Nuclear Safety Culture processes and recommends and implements improvement opportunities identified by task teams, committees and others and review radiological events and communicate lessons learned.

  • Lead by example on company values and objectives for the facility and/or group by ensuring compliance with company personnel policies. Administer and resolve employee issues, concerns, problems, and provides constructive discipline; and career development support through training and counseling.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years experience as a salary grade level 20 Senior Radiological Inspector at the Savannah River Site OR

  • High School Diploma and 6+ years experience in a senior or management role in radiological control.

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current SRR experience
