Job Summary

As an Associate Director you will be a key member of the team, assisting the company in increasing its market share of the Wet Services consultancy business, including the effective delivery of its current portfolio of projects and contributing to bids for new work within an existing team of engineers. They provide engineering technical and management leadership for all of the wet service disciplines. Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative. Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with senior level engineers within the company and with key engineering officials of other organizations and companies, and is skilled in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues. At this level, individuals will have demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual engineering problems, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits. Bachelor’s degree in engineering required. Generally has 15+ years experience, including 7+ years in a management role. License and/or registration of Professional Engineer may be required. Member of professional or technical society.

Job Duties

  • As Associate Director, you will provide a specialist technical lead on design, as well as overall team leadership. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a diverse team of Engineers to deliver successful projects on time and to Budget.

  • Managing projects and assisting with bids and tenders.

  • Ensuring technical excellence for the Wet design group.

  • Working with clients to define their requirements and discuss progress.

  • Liaising with colleagues to lead; advise and contribute on civil and wet design issues.

  • Occasional short site visits may also be necessary depending on project requirements.

  • Working with (and where appropriate influencing the development of) relevant codes, legislations and standards.

  • Required to visit the three offices within the UAE (Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Al Ain) as required.

Specific Skills Required

  • You will bring significant theoretical knowledge and specialist design expertise in fields such as gravity and pressurised systems design.

  • Good working knowledge of the requirements of Hydraulic design, including applicable codes and standards.

  • Understanding of the importance of MEICA and how it applies to pumping stations etc.

  • You will also have a strong track record in providing specialist technical consultancy as part of a civil design team.

  • You will bring a strong ethos in QA/QC and ensure the strict adherence to the AECOM proceedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • 15 years experience in the design, delivery and/or construction of major multi-disciplinary projects, 10 years of which should be in a senior role leading design teams. International experience required. Middle East Experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in Civil Engineering.

  • C.Eng or M.Eng qualification would be beneficial but not essential.
